Terms of Use

By accessing FileSize.org you agree to the terms below. They are deliberately short — the site is a reference, not a service that holds your data or runs on your behalf.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms form an agreement between you (the visitor or reader) and the publisher of FileSize.org. Throughout this page, “the site” means the website served from filesize.org and its subdirectories, and “the publisher” means the operator of that site.

2. Acceptable use

You may use the site for any lawful purpose, including reading the reference content, using the converters and calculators interactively, sharing links to its pages, and quoting short factual figures with attribution. In return, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site, the host server, or any related infrastructure.
  • Probe for, scan, or test the vulnerability of the site or its hosting environment without explicit written permission.
  • Interfere with the operation of the site, for example by sending automated traffic at a rate that degrades performance for other users, or by attempting to circumvent rate limits or other security controls.
  • Reproduce, duplicate, mirror, or republish substantial portions of the site's content without permission.
  • Use the site or its content in any way that violates applicable law or the rights of others.

3. Intellectual property

All original written content, page layouts, illustrations, and code on the site are protected by copyright and, where applicable, other intellectual-property rights. Trademarks and brand names referenced on the platform-limits pages (Discord, Gmail, WhatsApp, Slack, GitHub, and so on) are the property of their respective owners and are used only for identification and editorial reference.

You may quote short excerpts (a sentence or a single tabular figure) for journalism, education, commentary, or research, with a clear link back to the relevant page. Larger reuse — full pages, tables, or charts — requires permission. See the contact page.

4. Accuracy of information

The site aims for accuracy and is reviewed regularly, but information is provided on an “as is” basis. Conversion math is straightforward and well-defined, but platform upload limits, pricing tiers, and provider behavior change frequently and outside of the publisher's control. You are responsible for verifying any figure that matters to you against the source platform's own documentation before relying on it for important decisions.

5. No professional advice

The compression guides, file-size estimates, and reference material on the site are intended as general technical guidance for a knowledgeable reader, not as professional consulting advice. Use of any command, setting, or workflow described here is at your own risk and should be tested on copies of files before being applied to anything irreplaceable.

6. Third-party links and services

Pages on this site link to external resources, including platform documentation, software vendors, and standards bodies. The publisher does not control the content of those external sites and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or practices. Following an external link is at your discretion.

The site also displays advertising served by Google AdSense. The publisher does not endorse, vet, or guarantee the products or services advertised. Any transaction you enter into following an advertisement is between you and the advertiser.

7. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. The publisher disclaims all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

The publisher does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components, nor that defects will be corrected.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the publisher will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the site, including any reliance on information or estimates provided here.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including (where applicable) liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the publisher harmless from any claim, demand, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party arising out of your breach of these terms or your misuse of the site.

10. Privacy

Your use of the site is also governed by the privacy policy and the cookies page, which describe what is collected, by whom, and how to opt out where applicable.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. The “Last reviewed” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent material change. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. The courts of that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute arising from or related to these terms or your use of the site, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you a non-waivable right to bring a claim in your country of residence.

13. Severability

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected].
